Thank you for the fresh new ideas for our preparation period! We practiced the chicken, bunny, and unicorn finger positions on paper plates held in each hand for “balance” while the students “skated” around the music room on more cheapo paper plates. I played “Skating” from Charlie Brown Christmas and whenever I rang a bell, they had to freeze and look my way while I called out the next finger position for their hands. They loved it AND they are practicing without really knowing it!

Chicken Bunny Unicorn very helpful. They really like it, and practiced it between music classes.
One class insisted on saying “Rooster” Bunny Unicorn. (I like the sound of chicken better, but I have to admit it does look like a rooster!)
