I can appreciate you not giving specific activities and songs. It’s deeper than finding activities that work and sometimes I get stuck in that mode. I think we need to take a hard look at the questions (I will be posting them near my desk) and understand we need to do our own work in this area in order to best serve the needs of our particular students. Modern Band is something that has really been helping me reach more BBIA students more authentically.

Also, I’ve never heard of transformative SEL so I’ll be looking into it. I think the description of “white supremacy with a hug” is possibly the feeling I’ve had while doing a recent book study.

Thank you so much!

This article is very well thought out and I have a lot to think about. But my question is what specific activities and songs incorporate SEL learning? Or how do I take what I am already using to make it SEL?

Thank you,
Danyelle Harris
